belated birthday card

Here's a quick little card designed to send for a belated birthday greeting.  I used SU's envelope punch board to form the cute little camera.  The sentiment used came from a set called "Remembering Your Birthday" and the "Oh Snap!" is from the mini catalog set called "Hip Notes." Since cameras and polaroid images are so trendy right now, I added silver photo corners around the text box on the inside of the card.  The speech bubble (used outline only) came from a mini catalog set called "Just Sayin'" and cut out with the matching framelit.  You can easily do this method by  coloring the image outline with a marker, and just omit the saying.  This allows your stamps to do double duty.  More bang for your buck!

Just a quick post tonight as it's been a busy day.  This card idea was posted in our Stampin'Up! demonstrator's magazine.  I had to modify it a bit as I didn't have all the materials they'd used in the sample. Ultimately I was pretty pleased with the outcome.   The card base is a normal A2 size in Whisper White, and I stamped some light splotches from "Gorgeous Grunge" using So Saffron ink.  Then I added 6 strips of Retro Fresh washi tape.  The film framelit was cut out of  our new "On Film" framelit dies with the Retro Fresh designer series paper.  The sentiment from "Peachy Keen"  was stamped on Whisper White using Coastal Cabana ink.  I stamped and cut out the arrows with the same stamp and framelit sets using So Saffron ink and cardstock.  They were popped up with foam dimensionals.  Then for a touch a bling....3 little rhinestones underneath the sentiment.  I formed the little fringe along the bottom of the film framelit with a one inch strip of Coastal Cabana cardstock and SU's new fringe scissors.

beautiful watercolor cards

Today's card features one of my newest favorite stamp sets called "Happy Watercolor." I found this card originally designed by Brenda Keenan (www.keenankreations.com) Brenda filmed a wonderful video with very clear instructions. The only thing I added was a layer of Basic Black cardstock (3-3/4" x 5") underneath the Whisper White layer (3-1/2" x 4-3/4"). The sentiment used comes from the stamp set "Wetlands." I very quickly made six of these cards in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, and Coastal Cabana. Love those In-Colors! This design would be very easy to use for almost any occasion (birthday, get well, sympathy, etc.) It will definitely be one of my "go to" designs from now on.  Brenda added special touches with the addition of the tiny pearls on each flower, and the sparkly butterfly punched out of SU's silver glimmer paper.  Staz-On black ink was used for the flower and sentiment.

Since it's freezing outside, it's a good day to stay inside and stamp something. Today's card is a simple layout and pretty quick to throw together. The card base was embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions embossing folder and I rounded the corners. The chocolate chip layer measures 4" x 3-1/2", and I added a strip of designer paper at the bottom which measures 1-1/4" x 3-1/2". At this point I tied the Raspberry Ripple ribbon and secured in the back. I love this cake image from the stamp set called "Embellished Events." I used markers to color the cake (Chocolate Chip, Raspberry Ripple, Crushed Curry) and added some Crystal Effects, stamped on a scrap of Whisper White. I hand trimmed the image and popped it up with some dimensionals after stamping the cake stand and candles (colored with markers) on the piece of Whisper White cardstock. The Whisper White layer measures 2" x 3", adhered to a layer of Crumb Cake which measures 2-1/4" x 3-1/4". This layer was also added with dimensionals. The "woo hoo" comes from a new stamp set called "Just Sayin'" in our newest mini catalog. I repeated the same measurements for the inside of the card, and added a strip of Raspberry Ripple cardstock to mimic the ribbon on the front. The sentiment inside comes from the "Perfect Pennants" stamp set, and I cut out the letter "a" with our 1/2" circle punch.

easy washi tape card

I'm a hoarder when it comes to designer paper, ribbon, flowers, buttons, and now washi tape. You know what I'm talking about! I have containers full of this stuff, and I will sit and admire the pretty colors. It's kind of like when I was a kid and got a brand new box of crayons. They were so beautiful, just lined up in their box. I hated to ruin the line up by using them. But this year I am actually going to use my stash. Seriously. I found today's card design on YouTube posted by Christina Thomas. I loved how she made use of SU's new Retro Fresh washi tape, and how she only embossed the lower portion of the card front on an angle using SU's new Arrows Textured Impressions embossing folder. My favorite part (after the washi tape) was the addition of the gold baker's twine from SU. Ok...so I hoard baker's twine too. Confession is good for the soul, isn't it?? The base of the card is your standard 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" in Very Vanilla. The top layer of Very Vanilla measures 4" x 5-1/4", and the Tangerine Tango layer measures 4-1/8" x 5-3/8". Christina had used a layer of So Saffron rather than the Tangerine Tango, and it looked great as well. My sentiment came from a hostess set called "Express Yourself." Love that font!

Here's a cute baseball themed card I found on Stampin'Up!'s website.  The original card idea was posted by a demonstrator named Michelle Suit.  I tweaked it just a bit.  I really think it would make a great "man" card, or for anyone that loves baseball!    It's your basic card size (5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4") in Midnight Muse cardstock.  The Basic Black layer is 4" x 5-1/4".   I made a template for the Whisper White layer measuring 3-3/4" x 5" and traced a slight arc on the wrong side of the cardstock before cutting the white layer into two pieces.  I used Real Red cardstock and the chevron border punch to make the stitching, and poked holes along the way.  The star is stamped and hand trimmed using Daffodil Delight ink, and popped with a dimensional.  Of course a little "bling" is needed...hence the rhinestone.  The "a" was punched with a 1/2" circle punch, and popped with a dimensional

.  Stamp sets used were "Perfect Pennants" from the newest SU mini catalog, and "Sassy Salutations" from the big catalog. Midnight Muse ink was used for the sentiments.

Ok...so I'm long overdue with creating a blog.  It's been on my "to do" list for a long time, so maybe this will actually be the year I will make it happen!
